To empower PL-638 Tribal and Indian Health Service Facilities
to effectively utilize the "right to recovery" law to
increase your revenue.
IHCIA 206, 25 U.S.C. 1621 e(a)
"The United States, an Indian tribe, or tribal organization shall have the right to recover from an insurance company, health maintenance organization, employee benefit plan, third-party tortfeasor, or any other responsible or liable third party … the reasonable charges billed by the Secretary … in providing health services through the Service … or, if higher the highest amount the third party would pay for care and service."
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Management and Policy with a minor in business. I worked at an Indian Health Service Unit and during that time, I was awarded 2 National Indian Health Service Director's awards and 4 Portland Area Director's award.
I've improved the business office processes and successfully utilized the "Right to Recovery" law.
This resulted in an annual increase of several millions in revenue.
My dream is to pass on this knowledge to my people.
My father, Stan Patterson Sr, was a leader for decades in our tribe. I carry his passion to help our people in my heart.
We are one nation - Indian Country.
Each unpaid or paid at a lower rate is lost revenue to your facility.
The office of the Business Office Manager must work with the insurance companies to educate insurances on the law!
Insurance companies must pay your facility the highest rate that they pay their contracted providers.
Each "Explanation of Benefits or Remittance Advice" must be analyzed to assure compliance.
